Granite Blocks

The use of granites at homes may be in the kitchen, bathroom or in the garden is becoming more popular these days. Granite is a type of very hard rock or stone which is dug or blasted from the ground or cut from the side of mountains. Granites are cut as large rectangular blocks; some of these blocks can be huge and weigh up to twenty tons. These granite blocks are then sawn into sheets of required size. The newly cut granite slabs are called scants.

Granites are almost impossible to scratch deeply with anything other than high grade steel, tungsten or diamond. Granites are extremely resistant to staining. Granites are extraordinarily resistant to the effects of rain and sun, and most corrosives found around the home have little effect.
